Meeting with Congresswoman Karen D. Bass to Discuss US – Africa Priorities in 2015

On November 17th, 2014, Blue Law International’s Atieno Oduor met with Congresswoman Karen D. Bass (D-CA), the Ranking Member of the House Sub-Committee on Africa, to discuss US – Africa priorities in 2015. The agenda of discussion included the renewal of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA); the US response to the Ebola crisis in West Africa; the priority of STEM in Africa; and the follow-up to the US – Africa Leaders Summit.

Atieno was part of a twenty-member delegation, which was led by CFA President and CEO Melvin Foote, and which included leading Africa Policy makers in the DC area Dr. Monde Muyangwa, the Director of the Africa Program of the Woodrow Wilson Center;  Dr. Meldon Hollis, Associate Director, White House HBCU Initiative; Franklin Moore, Former Deputy Administrator, USAID;  Dr. Johnnetta B. Tubman University, Liberia, Charles Sharpe, CEO, Black Emergency Managers Association (BEMA); Dewardric McNeal, Vice President, OICI; Ambassador Robin R.
